2006 Classic Moen Faucet Filter
OK,
I have owned this Classic over a year now and had no idea that it had a red warning light on top of the faucet and a push to test on the front of the faucet. I suppose this is all related to the condition of the filter. Went to my pouch of manuals and I have nothing on the filter. I will call Airstream tomorrow but until then has any one played with this yet?

That isn't a "Push to test". When you push the button with the faucet running, the faucet puts out filtered water. It returns to unfiltered each time you turn it off and the filter is bypassed.
While filtering, the stream is a lot smaller than otherwise. You are supposed to flush out the filter before using it and each time the trailer sits unused for a period. The lights tell you when the filter needs replaced.
I have the info in my manual, but the manual is in the trailer 10 miles away.
We do use the filter for our coffee and tea water and water for our animals.

Thanks Pahaska,
I just tried it and it worked just like you said. Water tasted not to bad!
Is the little red light suppose to blink while its in operation or is that a sign
the filter needs to be replaced? I suppose I should have known this. I will call Airstream tomorrow.
Thanks
Pappy

Yes
The light does blink while the filter operates.
I'll be going back to the trailer Sunday morning. If you can't get documentation, I'll bring the manual home then and scan the info for you.
There are instructions for flushing the filter, changing the cartridge, and how the lights work.

Learned something new today. I didn't realize it either. It's always fun to find out new features. Thanks for sharing the info.

moen puretouch classic
We have the same system in our 04 30 classic. If you want the manual go to www.pure-touch.com and download the manual. As for the filters, they're around $20.00 apiece and you can get them at a good plumbing supply, or culligan store. Forget home depot etc. We drink bottled water, and use the filter for the pets, cooking rice and anything else we need good water for. As long as a system is installed in the TT I like to keep it working, besides it's fun to watch the lite blinking

as i recall the red light blinks rapidly and during the initial priming of the filter...
first time it is used needs to run for 5 minutes to wash out loose carbon bits....
then it blinks green for the useful service life of the filter.
toward the end it blinks yellow and red again. time for new cartridge...
about 16-20$ and one will last at least a season up to a year if just for coffee and cooking and so on....
i take the cartridge out during storage or long periods of inactivity...let it dry out and store it....
cheers

Airstream emailed the manual to me.
Had to reset the light by pushing the button 3 times within 10 seconds.
Then run the water for 5 minutes during this period the light blinks green then yellow and eventually only green. So I am all set thanks guys.

Duh
I read this thread out of curiosity, until I realized I must have a filter on my faucet! Duh. Something new to figure out!

Also replace that filter every other year or every year depending on use....and don't winterize with the filter in place as you will contaminate the filter with RV antifreeze if you pass liquid through it. On our model, you don't even have to have the bypass on, the cavity that the filter sits in will fill with fluid regardless if you use the bypass or not. So, that means that if your Moen is like the one in our 2004, you need to remove the filter if you winterize as the cavity the filter sits in will fill with RV antifreeze.
I bought the mint smell/taste antifreeze. First year I didn't think to yank it beforehand and it took forever to flush the mint smell/taste out of the filter. In the long run it would have been a better idea for me to just replace it and or remove it before winterizing since we don't really use it all that much to warrant a yearly replacement.

I didn't realize the light changed color. I have been using it with the light flasing red on the few occasions I have used it. Guess I'll have to let it run this week end.
The PUR brand says to let it run for 5 minutes itially. So why didn't I think you would need to do the same with this one?

Mine cheanged from green to red a few weeks ago. I do not use it much at all so I suspect whatever power source is in the filter cartridge is dying. I have looked at several RV places and home stores no luck. I have asked two AS dealers where I can get one. No luck yet. No that big a problem since I filter all the water that goes into the trailer.

Nothing exotic about the power supply. Try AAA cell at any grocery or pharmacy. I do recall seeing the battery size in my owner's manual. It is easy to replace. I forget the exact procedure, but I think you just twist the end of the faucet to the left (?) and pull and then you can access the filter and battery.

moen faucet
Hello catsandi. If it's a moen pure touch classic, the power source is a 3v lithium watch battery (#2032) available at any drug store, Walgreens etc. The filter cartage is really a Culligan product that you can get at most plumbing supply stores. My replacement is a MicroTech 600, I think it was $17.00. It is made for the Moen PureTouch Classic. Hope this helps, Mark

Maybe that's what it is instead of AAA. I knew it was something ordinary. I'll check tomorrow.
