12 V water pump too loud

Our 26' Argosy needed the 12 V pump replaced. We got a surflo (proper size) The thing made so much noise we returned it, thinking it was defective but the second one is as bad. When the water is turned on in the kitchen the sound is OK but when you turn the water (both hot and cold) in the bathroom (in Back) this is very loud. We have check for viberation in the lines to make sure they they are not viberating, put the pump on foam padding but still have the very loud pump.

Can anyone give me ideas as to what the cause is?

water pump

I have found that the suction line need to be larger so the pump want strain. Hope this helps it did for me.

The pump on my boat normal quiet gets very noisy when water tank is empty, so Tom, might be right that pump is working hard to get water, I would check to see if the lines are clear, you can blow back to the water storage tank to see if you have a clog or crimped pipe.

What model Shurflo pump did you try? I was thinking of replacing my old 2088 modle with the Shurflo Revolution 4008, they advertise it as exceptionally quiet.

I had the same problem with our 22 Sport FB, I replaced the outlet piece of hard plastic with a 20 in piece of sink hose with female connector on both ends. In the sureflow manual it says that the outlet should be plumbed with a flexible hose to allow for water hammer.
