Won’t flow uphill
I’ve been RVing for a long time and this is the first time I hit this snag. We were at Anastasia St Park in Florida which has no sewer on site. Our black tank can make 5 days, but the grey tank needs to be toted to the dump station every two days or so. But when I went to hook up I realized the tote is just slightly higher than the tank drain and would not flow to the tote. I made due by letting the drain hose fill and then lifting it from the trailer side so it would empty the hose into the tote, but that was pretty tedious. No way would I do that with the black tank. I’d been thinking of buying one of those 12 V macerators that can grind and pump thru a garden hose for when I’m at the house and want to dump into a sewar clean out. I think that might have solved this problem.

Yup, that's an issue. I do as you have done...lifting the hose. Another solution is to carry a second sewer hose that can couple to the first. Usually there is some slope on the site and moving the tote downhill helps. Also a 90* elbow on the tote end of the hose helps as the hose isn't making the large "hump" to affix to the top of the tote.

Would getting larger wheels for the tote help? Or bringing one of those Camco sidewinder supports for the stinky slinky?

Can’t help with the gravity problem, but a couple of suggestions to reduce the frequency of the process:
— divert grey water to the black tank
— use the shower facilities at the campground
— conserve water as a general practice.
I know we are at the low end of the spectrum, but as old fashioned campers we only generate 2-3 gallons per day of grey water.

How about the end cap that connects to a garden hose? Position blue boy at downhill spot and use a dirty hose to drain into it.

Well, how many lego leveling blocks do you have? Buy a second set and put them on both sides and raise the trailer a few inches. Or, if the site isn't concrete or hard packed dirt, dig a little depression for the tote to sit in. - Brad

Let us know how the macerator works out.

And my comment is for the grey tank only.

I assumed that. The good thing about a macerator is it does not care. I’ve never used a tote for black tank dumping. But grey tank dumping is a must when we don’t have full hook up.

Macerator ordered plus a 3/4 hose to fill the tote with. Heading up to Bald Ridge Creek campground in a couple of weeks and don't want to be shy with the grey water.

Unintended consequence of lifting the AS for clearance, has been easier dumping and more flexibility for situations like this.
Wouldn't do it just for this, but if you had any thoughts to lift, it's been a great thing.

Not sure a lift kit is needed for me but I’ll certainly consider it as we use this trailer more. I have some plastic leveling blocks I could use to lift it higher, but I have the the macerator now and will see shortly how good it is.

This discussion is exactly what I am having the 3 inch lift kit installed on our new Classic that is supposed to come in later this year. I've run into camp grounds that had the sewer pipe higher than my sewing outlet. Drives me crazy!

I ran into the problem of the campgrounds sewer pipes being higher than my sewer outlet. A lift kit definitely helps, so does switching to 16” wheels, additionally I made the switch to the sewer solution. Never had that problem again.

Valterra Sewer Solution, uses water not a 12v macerator pump. If using blue boy with Valterra keep an eye on amount of liquid in blue boy

I would imagine either has the potential to be nasty if you're not watching the level in the tote.

Odd situations use the onboard sparingly and campground facilities primarily, it’s camping and being flexible to key.

We found the same thing. There’s a Loves Truck stop right by where we keep our GT. We couldn’t use their dump station because the pipe was so high. Got the 3” lift for other reasons, but being able to empty the tanks easier is definitely a nice plus.

New campground, same gravity problem. Really glad I had the Flowjet with me. I’d have been dumping the tank by lifting the hose again. Pricy but already worth it for me.
