Waste tank vents

I am putting a new gray and a new black water tank in a '65 Safari. Can they share a common vent outlet? I was hoping to run the vent pipe from each tank to a Y and out a common vent hole. This spares a new hole in the roof. Thanks for any help.

Yes, they can, but make the "T" as high as possible, like 4 feet or more.

What is the advantage to making the "T" higher, rather than lower?

Thanks, Hank

The T in my Argosy was at the top of the closet in the bath. It is below the new counter top now. There have been NO issues with the new location.
Don't know why it would have to be 4'+.

The higher the "T" the less smell and bacteria can transfer.
