Waste outlet size on '84 Excella 31'

Our waste outlet on our '84 Excella 31 is 3-3/4" OD. We have a twist coupling fitting elbow that fits this waste outlet. The old sewer hose developed a leak so we bought a new Thetford Titan hose complete with fittings. The Thetford twist coupling is 3-1/2" ID so it's too small & won't fit on the outlet. We've searched far & wide and can't find a hose kit that will fit. So we cannibalized the hose kit and cut off the outlets but can't fit the hose on the twist coupling either. We can't find a hose that works either. Does anyone know who sells this bigger diameter sewer hose coupling & hose? Guess I can cut off the trailer coupling and glue on a new 3-1/2" ABS fitting but figured I would check here before modifying.

Sounds like you have a Thetford brand hose that fits a Valterra bayonet.

Well nothing "fits" so would you mind being a little more clear with a solution here?

Sewer Hose

The connection you have is a Thetford. They do make an adapter to allow you to use Valtera (Black) hose on a thetford fitting. Most campers today use Valtera fittings, much less $$$ than the Thetford, and available everywhere.

I would suggest cutting off White Thetford fitting and install a Valtera fitting.

Yes, it is confusing. Older Airstreams have what is called Tetford fittings. Newer Airstreams and almost every other brand trailer have what is called Valterra fittings. Now for the confusing part: Tetford now makes hoses with Valterra fittings on them. That is what everybody uses and sells. You can order (but probably will not find in a store) a coupler that lets you convert the Tetford on your trailer to a Valterra. Stick it on with silicone caulk. Or, you can cut the end of the pipe off and glue on a Valterra adaptor as has been suggested. Outdoors mart Airstream sells the adaptor online. Amazon probably does too.

While you're thinking about it, why not use the adaptor?

Same problem with new tanks we had installed in our 1964 Sovereign 30'. We also found the https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T05-...3612696&sr=8-2 adaptor. Works fine.

I agree with Bill and imho the adapter isn’t worth it. Do it right - hacksaw the coupler off the old 3” waste line and glue a new on a Valtera. Less than a $5 fix.

I have one of those adapters. Never used it. I don't believe it is either very secure nor leak proof.

The ears on the adaptor tend to break off.
Remove the old Thetford fitting and install a new Valterra fitting.
