Valterra Sewer Solution Leaks.

Over the last six months I have tried three different Sewer Solutions. They all leak. Not a lot, but they all give you a drip drip drip.

The main piece is a leaker through and through.
It will develop cracks and leak.
The no back flow thingy will also leak.

The hard part is to isolate the leaks since there are many.

If you don't mind a few drips the Valterra Sewer Solution is for you. If you want a drip free sewage solution look elsewhere.

Interesting, I'm not having the same experience, but I use mine with a 12" clear extension because the connection is hard to reach with the bare SewerSolution unit. I've been using mine for about three years...

No obvious leaks or other issues. I usually hook up and drain gray tank more-or-less continuously while on water hookup, and dump black when it gets about 1/2 to 2/3 full.

In my mind, the "stinky Slinky" is way more likely to contaminate the world, and a lot harder to store...

Do you use hose clamps?

Thanks.

I have blown 2 of the quick connect pieces out. One was at the shut off valve for the hose connection, and the other was the back flow piece. Both times have been at my shop where I have high water pressure. I am going to Home Depot and try to replace the flimsy plastic parts with more robust plastic parts, except for a brass ball valve. Don't really need the quick disconnect feature. It is nice to be able to empty the tanks at my shop. It's @100 ft. to my septic connection. Valterra was great about replacing the first time, but I think I will try something different next time.

Completely stock, no added clamps, no extension hoses, no modifications. The Clear extension gadget bayonets on just like usual...

BUT, I always use a high-quality pressure regulator at the campground connection so I don't blow hoses out...

Interesting problem you are having. I have been using the SS for over 6 years now. As far as I know it has never leaked as long as I used it properly. I also use a clear extension.

Perhaps the older versions are better?

Amazon reviews of this product show quite a few leakers. Some reviewers don't mind the leaks.

I will exchange the two leakers for two new ones and then be more methodical about documenting this problem.

Please do. It just isn’t what I’m seeing. I will also watch closer...

We experienced a leak in our VSS when the main unit developed cracks after five years of use. The quick disconnect can also crack and leak if you fail to give it a little support to keep the weight of the hose off the fittings. Just supporting the hose will protect that component for many years. I use mine for long distance runs, over 100 feet, with no problems. I replaced the main connection unit, and have happily been using that one for over a year now. If at a campsite with shorter distance to the sewer connection, I use the stinky slinky and save my VSS for the more difficult setups only. That prolongs its life as well. Happy camping!

Also protect the gaskets on the quick disconnect and do not yank on either hose. I also lubricate the big O ring. It seems that since we have a long trailer and the sewer connections are in the back that the sewer solution is the best solution for the longer runs.
