Hi Robert Cross,
I wanted to give you an update on my black tank sensor problem. I kept having issues with the black tank sensor until yesterday when I pulled into Hadley Campground in Maine. Eric, the owner and 'honey wagon' operator solved the problem, I do believe. Before he emptied the black tank, he had me fill the black tank to the white collar you can see when looking down into the toilet. It is where the bottom of the toilet meets the floor and is clearly visible). When that was done, he suctioned out the black tank and for the first time in weeks, the black tank sensor was at 0%. He gave me some other advice that might be helpful to others:
1) Do not put TP in the black tank. Over time, bits of the TP will compact into the valve or seal and eventually this will cause problems. He sees this a lot.
2) When you poop, flush the waste and then fill the toilet bowl full with water (which you can do with a light touch on the foot pedal in my model) and empty it into black tank.
3) When possible, empty the black tank when you break camp and then pour 5 gallons of water into the toilet so it sloshes around and keeps sensors and tank clear of debris. (I think I'll throw some water softener into this based on the recipe Robert Cross linked me to).
He was able to determine nothing was wrong with my valves because there was good suction during honey wagon operation.
Happy trails again!
