The door ( round twist end cap ) to my 16' Sport, sewer hose holder only turns about 1/8 of an inch to close. Vibration while travel shook it loose and it cost $50 to replace the hose that fell out on the hyway. Whats with that?
You did good to pack that hose in and still get a 1/8 turn. More than I could do. My solution was to cut the hose down to "fit" a standard off the shelf hose.

I assume they still use the same ones they were using on early years.
Yes, the actual locking is just a bit of a twist. But if you make sure all three(?) of the tabs are engaged, it's pretty secure. I think the biggest problem is when one of the tabs isn't locked in and it can vibrate off.
I hadn't opened mine in over a year until yesterday. I almost needed pliers to turn it. I sprayed silicone on it... I will probably lose my sewer hose going down the road today.

I've had four Airstreams, same problem on all. Some fit tight, some fit looser. Some that fit loose all of a sudden don't. If your at the dealer ask them if there is a looser fitting one to be had. Often I only get in a partial twist and it works. All part of the experience...
