Sewer extension under Airstream

Is there some way to extend the sewer connector attached to the Airstream so it extends to the exterior of the trailer? I have to lay flat on the ground to hook up my sewer hose to the trailer as it is so far back and under the trailer. I am getting too old for this! Thank you.

Can you post a picture or two of what you have to work with? They use ABS piping.

Looks like you have a ‘77 mid bath. I have a ‘77 rear bath and know what you mean as you pretty much have to get on your hands and knees to connect the sewer hose. The risk with extending the outlet for the rear bath is breaking it when the rear of the trailer drags on a driveway escarpment. On the mid bath, damage from a tire blowout or tread separation with slapping tread. The 70s trailers with mid bath have the sewer outlets less exposed to protect from blowout damage but make them harder to access. Your best bet may be to install a lift kit and/or replace the axles to raise the trailer a few inches to make it easier to access.

On mine, the "release" handles are on either side of the dump outlet. So the handle of the adapter would have to point straight down. That seems a road hazard.
On mine, it's awkward but doable to reach the outlet. To make it easier I replaced the cap with one having a built in handle;

and then added a clear extension to my sewer hose. Just to gain something to hold on to as I twist it on.

I never thought the 3/4" hose fitting on the cap was handy until I wondered how I could add a lubricant to the gate valve. A hose and funnel above the floor level would fill the drain fitting with lubricant, and you could exercise the valve without draining the tank. Then lower the hose end to empty the fitting before removing the cap.

We had to install an external gate valve on our 1999 31’ Excella when the original black tank valve started leaking… It’s a Camco. The trailer is a permanent installation, otherwise I’d be compelled to remove it for travel. Anyways, it works flawlessly.

Camco 5” extender

I use this when I’m using my Sewer Solution. If 5” is enough then you might try it.

Sewer extender

I had the same problem with my 1975 center bath. Jackson Center extended the sewer pipe and the handles to a much better posityion much like latrer models.

Be aware that putting a external gate valve on the sewer fitting can comingle the grey and black tanks, if both handles are opened together, or one valve leaks while the other is open.
I'd rather not have the black contents finding it's way to the grey tank.
