Sewer Connection Size?

My 97 Excella is my 3rd RV with holding tanks. Since the previous owner included a sewer hose when I bought it I didn't think anything about it.

The other day I bought new Valterra hoses with connections from Camping World. Much to my suprise they don't fit! My dump connection is larger in diameter than the Valterra connections. Since I had saved my old fittings I was able to modify one of the new hoses and dump my tanks.

So my question is: WHATS UP??
I was under the mistaken assumption that all RVs use the same size dump connectors. Is this "normal" for an Excella or am the victim of an Airstream experiment gone bad??

Thanks,

Think Thetford connections. A little larger. They are not easy to find

Dyersonline has them. Search for Thetford or this may work http://www.dyersonline.com/showcateg...setfilter=true

Camping world also sells thetford fittings - you might be able to exchange the valterras.

I discovered as much when I stopped by Camping World.

What I'd REALLY like to find is an adapter that allows me to use "standard" RV sewer fitting on my Thetford valves.

Steve,

That's what I have. It's called the Universal Adapter.

Camping World used to have them. That's where I got mine. But the last time I checked I could not find one there.

On edit, I just searched the Camping World website and found this. It looks like it might be it.

They're out there. I forgot where i bought mine, but when I found them, I bought two of them. My sewer solution required an adapter to fit the dump connector on my 1971 Tradewind.
It was not that hard to find, as I remember. Do a little research, someone is likely to hend you one sooner or later.

Oh, I'm glad that they do! I'm going to be down in Denton,TX in a couple of weeks, and there's a CW right on the highway. I intended to look for one while down there.

I'll try CW again tomorrow, I think I saw a Universal Adapter but didn't know what to look for and as usual for CW there's never anyone around to help.

Try again tomorrow, eh? You lucky one! The nearest RV supply of any kind is a mere hundred miles from here down in Santa Fe, and the nearest CW is several hundred miles away. (Needless to day, we get visited by the UPS truck pretty often.)

Good luck. This was a nightmare for us on our very first A/S trip... but the adaptor has solved all problems! Tom

Buy several of them ... the ears can break off easily. When I had my tanks cleaned in AZ ... the guy broke mine ... and then broke my backup ... what a gorilla!

I went to the AS dealer in Mesa ... they had never heard of the part!

Turns out the little mom & pop RV parts store in Apache had them in spades.
