Plumb black water tank to septic system?

Hi, folks. I'm new to both Airstreaming and the Forums, so if my question's been answered elsewhere I'd be thankful even for directions to the appropriate thread.

My boss and I just put a '72 Tradewind on the site of a rental property renovation. It's gonna be there a while--at least 6 mos.--so we'd like to hard plum it into the on-site septic. I've already absorbed some advice from the threads on effective black water tank management, now I'm looking for tips on the hook-up. Our plumber on the renovation thinks he can run 3" pipe from the dump valve downhill to the septic, and we'll open the valve on an as-needed basis.

Any advice or cautions?

Thanks in advance!

Rob

We did it.

On our septic line between home and tank we put in a Y and ran a line to where we wanted it then put a threaded cap just above the ground.
The plug gets clipped by the mower when I am not careful mowing.
When company comes we uncap the plug to give them access for septic dumping. It works as intended.

Since you do not have a grey tank in your trailer, you will have an open line from the sewer into your grey water system. The traps at the devices should keep the sewer oders out of the trailer, but they will be going out of the vents all of the time. I would have the plumber put a trap between the trailer and the sewer. After you dump the black tank, dump some water down a sink to clean out the trap.

We are going to be needing a direct hook-up for about a year. What exactly do you mean? To put a P-trap (or some other type of trap?) in the buried line from trailer to septic? And have the grey water line hook in to the main line before the trap?

Why not do whatever is easiest for you?
We just dump and close the gate. No trap. The septic hose can be left in place and used for periodic flushes. No big stink unless the toilet gate and the tank gate are open to the septic system at the same time.
A trap that would not freeze can be above ground, fabricate it out of the same materials as your septic line. our line was too high in the ground to put a trap underground, not worth the money.
