Newbie - Manually Check Tank Levels?

Is there a way to manually check tank levels? Spent one night, with two showers and grey water tank indicates 100% full. 2019 27FB GT

You can check black tank through the toilet and if water com s up through the shower drain the gray is full.

I know that I can add a lot of fresh water after the gauge shows 100% so it could be the same for gray. I have found the black gauge to be fairly accurate.

When you are standing in the shower and the water has backed up to your ankles, the gray tank is definitely full.

It takes time to get used to the limits of your tanks.

The tank indicators are not real accurate; sometimes they show full when it's been in use a few days; other times it seems to read fine...we try to fill our fresh up when we start out, and we know the gray will be full when the fresh runs out...but if you have full hookups, you likely will run fresh from hookups so can be daunting.

Might be worth a trip to the dealer for "recalibration". It solved our similar problem.

That said, 2 showers without using the "in - start - rinse - stop - soap - start - rinse - stop - out" method can be quite filling. The "lather - rinse - repeat" method is for only for home use (unless, of course, your drain hose is properly hooked up and gray valve open).

Ditto above.

As a newbie, you may still be calibrating the impact of showers on grey tank space.

Two "landlubber" showers and a day of sink use (hand washing, dish washing, etc.) can easily fill the grey tank on our 25' (39 gallons). When we don't have full hookups, we go with "navy showers". In other words: get in shower stall, turn on water and wet what needs washing, turn off water, lather, turn on water and rinse. With careful water conservation, the two of us can go about four days before needing to dump the grey. That is about five gallons per person per day.

Newbie - Manually Check Tank Levels?

DW does not understand Navy Showers at all, and desires scorching hot water for lengthy showers.

I’m long ex-Navy and won’t tolerate them either anymore. We typically run on hookups with the gray valve open, and work the heck out of the PrecisionTemp 500 series tankless. Just because we can.

Once upon a time in the Navy, I was young and foolish. Now I am no longer young...but very comfortable.

What does your owner’s manual say about your tanks’ capacities? [grey, black and fresh water]

Strict Navy Shower policy per earlier comments will help.

As an experiment, when showering at home, stop up the drain and watch how quickly the shower or tub fills up. We all tend to “sleepwalk” through our consumption of water, and most other consumables IMO.

As the Good Ol’ Persons sang many decades ago:

“You don’t miss your water ‘till your well runs dry!

Yes I was Asea, I too love a long hot shower. But camping? I can adjust, I will enjoy my home shower, all the more!
