Why not go with the largest size you can. You don't have to use it if you don't need it. It would be nice in an emergency. Don't have to travel with it full. You could always dump it when convenient.

My Safari renovation will be restoring the original layout with the kitchen sink and wet bath in the front.
I am restrained by the available space in my frame and I don't want to install two tanks.
There is about 7 inches of depth available and about a 30 x 30 inch space between the frame members.
I ordered a 15 gallon tank that will fit the space.
I really needed to get that tank so I can finish the flooring replacement.

Since I am also a backpacker my water use is usually low, although I am sure to use more water while glamping in an Airstream.
When at State Parks...love the parks!!!...I use the bathhouses.
And with a composting toilet I can avoid the whole black water thing.

Thanks for all the great advice!!!

It really all comes down to individual needs and plans for usage.

A wide variety of which has been seen on this thread.

2 of us just spent the last 3 weeks traveling in the Southwest. Our 17ft 1967 Caravel has 30 gallons of fresh and 30 gallons of grey. Compostable toilet. We outdoor showers when we can. I can't imagine having anything less. If you look really close you will find our aluminum buddy hiding in the rocks at Alabama Hills.

I would go with the largest size possible. Showers will be more enjoyable. I find the larger tank helps flush out the residual black water waste from the sewer hose.

We put 2 30gal Ronco tanks on either side of the axle. They are inclosed in a galvanized removable shell.
