Main Fresh Water Tank drain?

1976 International 31' rear bath: No drains in curbside wheel well. Picture is of area just forward of axles. I removed the plug in the center of this area (after filling H2O tank), but nothing came out. Anyone know what this area is? Could there be enough debris to plug this if it is the drain plug? I have not tried to measure how much water I can fill the tank with.

If you will read my post under "Fresh water systems," we may have the same question. Your photo looks like the underside of my fresh water tank, except that there is a valve in the center of the square plate where you evidently have a drain plug. When I opened the valve, no water came out, but there was a hissing of air. I have a drain plug in the wheel well that does drain when I open it. I wonder what the square metal plate is for. Is it an access to get inside the fresh water tank?

McDave, I'd be very surprised if your 2014 FC has the same setup as THMillers 1976 International.

It may not be the same setup, but mine looks the same as his photo except that mine has a valve and his has a drain plug.

The drain plug on my '89 classic was quite a bit larger diameter, and under a screwed on cover plate. I wonder if the plug is a test port to see if water is leaking/accumulating in the pan. It seems to be metal. The drain plug and threads on the tank will be all plastic as they were on the '89.

McDave,

I believe that plate is there to provide support so the floor does not compress the tank when walking over it. Here is a pic from the top view that you can see a cross member braced up from that metal plate.

Con Rollins, Thanks for the inside picture - that make a lot of sense seeing it from the top. Thanks to all who helped with this question.
