I believe Inca Plastics supplied a lot of the original black tanks to Airstream...you may want to check with them.

I got mine at Inland RV also. Really nice tough fiberglass tank. It had better out last me!

thanks guys,
i've got an email in to andy, hope to hear back soon, otherwise i'll call them up... you guys, mind giving me an idea of the pricing?
also, another question, it looks like the last guy, cut the lines from the water tank and made the system fresh water input the rear hose fitting, i want to reconnect the tank but, i'm a tad baffled by what i'm seeing at the front tank. is there any type of diagram of how one of these systems are supposed to work?
thanks again

looking for an underfloor blackwater, 63 safari
Greetings Jay!
Your tank looks virtually identlical to the one in my '64 Overlander. I, too, purchased my replacement from Inland RV earlier this season as well as the Thetford Collector and Gate Valve. The tank is not pre-drilled for the toilet -- the necessary parts were included to place the fittings where required for the particular coach in which it was to be installed. A local Brand X dealer handled the install for me and commented that the parts were of very high quality and the install was very smooth.
Good luck in your search for a new tank!
Kevin

These are shown on Inland rv's website. I think they are $455.00 plus shipping. I'd hate to see what it takes to ship it to Rhode Island! Maybe your tank can be repaired? It really does'nt look very bad. The cracks in the top can definitely be glassed over, and if the bottom is no worse, you might save yourself some franklins.
Don't tell Andy I said that!

That's what my b-tank cost 3 years ago. Nice to hear that that price has remained stable. At the time Andy seemed to have the only one for my coach available. Might be other resources available. I was very satisfied with the toughness of Andy's fiberglass tank.
Neil.

The old plastic is not advised to repair, I did a small crack on mine that held for a year, but your are talking about 40 + years old. In the long run, If you can afford it, get the new one... Mine old tank was sagged on the top and the PO shoved wood around it $&%@.. bad PO bad PO....
I used the flange around the top of the new tank to screw it to the floor. I didn't like the old method of keeping it in.. This way it can't come off. I drilled holes every 6" Big fat screws all around then put the original stuff back in after it was up..

Well you are halfway there to where we decided to go. Take out the black tank and install a composting toilet! No black tank, no dump stations, no chemicals, no smell! By the time you add up the cost of the tank and the toilet etc. you will be close to what we spent. If you or anyone else would like more info...let me know!

Interesting your 63 safari had an in floor tank, ours was above the floor, did someone modify yours previously or was yours a really late 63 that had the bathroom setup of a 64 or something?
I'll try to dig up a few threads that had tank mods going, a few that even put gray tanks in vintage rigs.

i'm not sure what the real story is, it looks half stock and half hack job, i'll have to post some interior pics of the bathroom. i'd love some one to be able to clear it up for me.

Black Tank
After a lot of looking, I spent the money and got a direct replacement black tank for Inland. Could I have made a "universal" tank fit. Yes, but time is valuable and the tank Andy sells is high quality and an exact fit.

great job on that, pan looks great too. i think that's sort of the way i'm going. there are some tanks that look like they'll fit on ebay, $200 shipped. i've never used a black tank before so, it's all new to me... i'd like the option of either letting they grey drain out free or connecting it to the tank if i needed to.

The grey comes in after the valve for the black tank. If you put a cap on the end of the line and open up the black tank valve the grey then goes into the black tank you just have a good small bucket of sludge when you take the cap off to hook up the hose..
This is how it backed up into my shower....
You can hook up a tote 15 gal is manageable for the grey water to go in.. But you have to dump it before you leave. If it's just grey water the woods can be ok...
jasoncase. No camp grounds will let you dump it on the ground. But if you are in the would I wood run the hose away from the trailer. The smell can attract unwanted animals...
