Gray Water Tank in A 1961 Sovereign

Man I love this Forum---
Waht have you guys been doing about putting a gray water tank in a 1961 30 Land Yacht?
What size?
Where do you locat it?
Higher or lower than the existing black tank?

Any ideas would help.

Call Vintage Trailer Supply. They have grey tanks made up to fit vintage Airsreams plus they are super folks to do business with.

Big-boss,
There are many threads here on the forums about adding a grey water tank to a vintage Airstream. Most people locate the tank below the floor behind the axle (the existing black water tank is above the floor). The size of the tank may depend on what will fit between the frame rails. Many companies sell both custom made tanks and stock sizes. Good luck.

Most gray tanks I have seen added to vintage Airstreams protrude below the belly and have a separate outlet from the black tank.

I am interested in installing one of Vintage Trailer Supply's new gray tanks which are designed to fit within the belly skin. However, I haven't figured out how to plumb it to retain a single outlet. Currently the gray water exits via the black water outlet. The 1-1/2" gray water line T's into the vertical 3" outlet below the Thetford valve.

Has anyone figured out how to do this. I would have to remove the belly skin to figure out how to design this, and I prefer not doing this allowing for the possibility that it is impossible.

Thanks,
Mike

The only way I've seen it done is by replacing the old Thetford bass valve.

Restoration resources-Thetford Dump Valve

Do you want to keep the original old Thetford bass valve & plumb the grey tank to it? That would be great, my old Thetford valve works just fine in my '61 Overlander & I would like to add grey tank to it-like the one at Vintage Trailer Supply.
