fun times. replacing grey and black waste valves in 2022 Caravel
It looks like this is the factory part:
https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Waste-Va...lated-products
I haven't disassembled the faulty unit yet, but will the new one just bolt or slip into place or, as I expect, will I need to cut out the factory unit and use ABS primer and glue along with slip joints to get the new one installed? Advice welcome. thanks.

My 2002 had the valves screwed into the tank flange, but everything else was glued. I pulled the assembly and duplicated it with new ABS and PVC parts. If available you might consider rebuild kits for your valves.

My trailer has a setup that is quite a bit different (many pieces glue together) so any advice might be off. The parts on the ends were into the tanks and held with hose clamps, if that is the correct part you linked you might need to disassemble the valves to get them into the tanks. Seems strange that the valves need to be replaced so soon, mine were original and about 30 years old when I replaced them.

I am doing the same but plan on using flexible coupling with the unibody valterra valve.

My suggestion would be to strongly consider going with the Thetford components that would have been original on your trailer. My experience has been that the Valtera components while less expensive than similar Thetford components, they last 1/5 as long as a Thetford component. My 1964 Airstream has Thetford components while my 1978 Minuet was converted to Valtera by its original Owner.
I have owned my Overlander since 1995, and have only had to replace its Thetford gate valve once, and that was because it and the tank were damaged when I managed to get the rig high-centered on a rough county road entering a driveway damaging both the tank and valve requiring that I replace both. Otherwise, all the expense that I have had has been for two rebuilds over the years. On the other hand with my 1978 Minuet that was converted to Valtera components, I am constantly buying replacement parts as even the hose conectors fracture/break and seem to last no more than two seasons, and it seems that the gate valve isn't worth rebuilding as it has to be done every third season on average or at least that has been my experience on my Minuet. One of these days, my Minuet will be treated to new Thetford components.
Good luck with your project!
Kevin

I replace the pipes and elbows from the tanks to the valves as well. It wasn't that hard. Do not try and clean the sender for the black water with anything sharp! It is a diaphragm and if you puncture it, you'll have to replace it.

Photos would help. My waste valves (2001 Bambi 19) were installed with bolt flanges and I just had to unbolt them and pry a bit of clearance to slide the old ones out and the new ones in.

Yeah. I used to chime in on all the waste valve questions. But...your trailer is too new for me to comment on. My knowledge is really dated. Not many valve replacements on a 2 year old trailer, I expect. And...my source of supple of parts just quit selling parts too. I did change a valve back in September.

So, what happened?
Maybe I missed something, but why are you replacing these valves anyway on a 2022 TT? I have owned 4 different year/model AS's over the years, and never had this issue...is this something that is "common" to watch out for? I do spray the handles often with silicon spray, but no issues in last 20 years. Curious as to why folks replace, unless damaged or leaking somehow?

why replace?
I wound up not replacing anything but just removed, cleaned, and then re-installed the black valve assembly due to a fairly substantial leak. Why it loosened up, I don't know, but I have had to tighten up virtually everything from one end to the other of this trailer, so I'm not surprised to be honest. thanks for the advice. It is a pisser (no pun intended) to get the o-rings back in place due to the super-tight fit, and I'd be bet that I have a small pinch as the valve handle doesn't fit flush anymore, but for now, this will do. If I get motivated, I'll cut the black pipe and use a slip fitting for easier re-assembly.
