Flushing black tanks

What is the best way to flush out the black water tank? I know newer RVs have black tank flushing systems but my 1979 Excella motorhome does not. Any tips?

Fill up with about half a tank of hot, soapy water and go for a drive.

Thanks! I assume you fill it up via the toilet?

flushing black tank

i also clean and flush with half a tank of soapy hot water. cant use toilet water as it is cold. before i leave a site that has electricity i pull the shower handle off of the hose and run the hot water tank into the toilet until i get cold water. i then add the dish soap and wait until i get another load of hot water, then i dump that into the tank. Then i let it all sit in the tank while I do the rest of the hook up and site tear down. Take a long way to the dump station then let the soapy tank go. it will be clean!
best of luck!
