Dual Holding Tanks

When did Airstream install duel holding tanks in their units? I have a 1972 27ft Overlander.

The first known use of the term "greywater" was in a patent application in 1977, so probably sometime after that. Before anyone made a distinction between blackwater and greywater, it was all just called "wastewater" so there was no reason to separate it.

First grey water tanks were in '73, and all AS TTs had them for '74 is what I see.

I read in these forums that grey water tanks were mandated in RVs in 1975. Or at least it was deemed illegal to dump grey water on the ground. The discussion gave evidence that Airstream started installing grey tanks before 1975 on some models, but all models got them in 1975. That is my recollection anyways.

The Excella models had them in '73, probably for marketing or test reasons, and they were on all models for '74.

Of course, often there are oftenexceptions to 'the rule' with Airstream, but that is the main guidelines to use.

By the way, the grey tank on my '74 31-footer is 10 US gallons. Lasts for almost one shower.
