curved black water tank...HELP!

We got the old tank out of our 69 Caravel, in a couple of pieces. It is an odd shape because it conformed to the curve of the trailer, and looks like a quarter circle. Has anyone seen anything like this that can be purchased to replace it, or are we looking at a custom job?

Thanks, Krista

Krista,

I had a curved black tank made for my Overlander. It was definitely a custom job.
AllRite in Hollister CA did it for me. I sent a live-size template and drawing, with all the fittings and specs, and they made it right the first time.
Not cheap, but excellent quality and service.

Thanks UWE,
I just looked at the All-rite site, and will follow up with them first thing in the morning. No cheap fixes though. So far, our trailer, which was "ready to go as is" has gotten a new water heater, new converter, new rear window, new stove top, new plumbing....you get the picture!

Krista,

Look to see if there is a name on the tank. A couple of companies that made tanks for Airstream are still in business, in California, I think. Inca (?) I believe is one such company.

Maybe they still have the mold.

Check the tank depot site. Check the marine holding tanks and the RV holding tanks. You may have to add a fitting for the head.

Been there...Done that.

Thanks for everyone's advice...I have spent the day talking to All-rite, Amerikart, Inland RV, INCA and Airstream. Airstream says they still make that tank!!! nd referred me to a nearby dealer with a part number. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is the exact replacement, for a quoted price of $269. (n/i shipping). I'll keep you posted, this is bound to be an ongoing issue for others.
