black water valve

we have a 94' classic limited. The drain tube fills with black water. The tank valves are just T handles that you pull to open and push to close. The black water side just doesn't seem to close all the way. Is there a way to get in there and see if something is stuck blocking the gate without cutting holes? or are there other ideas or suggestions from the collective experience?

You can get a twist on Valterra valve that will fit where the sewer hose connects. Put it on, put the end cap on and you are set. At least you won't have the mess of black water when you remove the end cap.
You can get the Valterra valve online or maybe at CW.

I believe the plumbing on the 94 is Thetford. If it is you can get a Thetford to Valterra adapter and proceed as above, Thetfoird now makes limited plumbing parts.

Your 22 year old Thetford valve has had a good life. Replace it with Valterra which does not need to be glued in. While you are at it you might as well do the grey water valve.

This thread is a good place to get some information about the pipe layout.

You could use a small mirror on a stick with a flashlight, or an inspection camera, to look inside the valve.
