Does anyone know of a source where I can get a extension rod that will allow the handle to be in the original bracket?Click image for larger version

I have found lots of straight ones but none that have the approximately 4" offset. What terminology do you use to find them? TIA!

Try Out of Doors Mart Airstreams. I order rod and handle there but do not remember if they have the off set ones.

I've checked their online inventory but will give them a holler and check again.

Thanks.

Hi

I believe the "offset" rod is a custom Airstream item. Be prepared with a stiff drink when you get the pricing info. On my trailer (which uses a similar but different rod) it's up around $70.

That's what I was afraid of. Is there any way I could get a photo of what yours looks like? I believe I'll try to fabricate my own.

There are a couple photos that show similar pulls, but not the offset, at this thread>
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f444...es-162941.html

The handle comes from Airstream straight. The offset can be bent by hand using a tube bending tool. On the Excella I have now the offset is about 1.5".

I got a replacement handle/pull rod for one of my prior trailers from Out of Doors Mart.

Camco makes a variety of pulls for dump valves, cost ranging ~$10 to ~$20. I have no experience with them and do knot know if they would fit. But they look very similar.

Thanks for your help. I have looked at page's upon pages of posts but not found one with a picture like what I posted that shows that angles of the rod. That's why I posted this thread.

And by the way, thanks for the great documentation of what this job entails! I read your thread a few times before tackling mine and did not run into any surprises.

In your pictures you always cut off the extension rod though! I was kinda sorta cussing you after I had everything operational and was looking for that ext. rod pic!

Lol, I really do appreciate all the knowledge you shared with your thread.

On this topic...one side of the plastic finger 'pull' evaporated on my grey dump side, I'm sure the other side is not far behind. With trailer in storage, I can't look in to it. Does the rod unscrew from the gate valve to replace, or will there be more to it to replace the rod? Or...does the plastic handle easily detach from the rod? I can probably source some sort of handle from Home depot that I could put on to the end of the rod as well....

Try etrailer.com
I don't know about an offset handle, but I have purchased replacements from them.

This link will show you the dump valve rode with two bends That will put it back into the hanger. It is quite pricey. I ended up making my own. This rod is on all classics through 2019, at least what I have been able to see.

Good info but don’t try ordering from these folks. Search that name and silver trailer supply (same business) for reasons why not.

You can order just the black "T" part that screws into the extension rod. Very easily unscrewed and replaced.
