Bar Keepers Friend on Bathroom Sink > Question about tanks
I bought some of this for the exterior rock guards as it seems to be highly recommended here.
The SO asked about using it on the stainless steel bathroom sink (2019 unit). It makes sense that it will work on that as well....but my concern is that it requires you to rinse off the stainless after a minute.....which means...all that goes into the tanks, in my case, the black tank...because our bathroom configuration is one of the rare versions/layout that has the bath sink drain into the black tank and not the grey.
So is there any concern about washing that down the tanks? I have no idea what the internal construction of the tank is...I think it is a metal, but of what type no idea.
Warning flags in my head say don't even think about it.....are those flags right?
Anyone have any insight? A clean sink isn't worth a black tank replacement, hell I'd remove the sink and do it external if I really had to.
Thoughts?

Black tanks are typically ABS plastic. I don't think Bar Keepers Friend would affect it.

We use Bar Keepers Friend in our sinks, bathroom and kitchen. While I cannot comment on long term use we have had no issues after about three years of use.
Like was mentioned, the drain lines are ABS and the tank is also some form of plastic.

Thanks for the info.
I did some research and I'm coming up with some confusion.
From their site in the "Stop Drop & Roll section" near the bottom:
https://barkeepersfriend.com/8-ways-...eepers-friend/
is this link to youtube:
and the confusion starts at 1:58 minutes in the video.
Gives me pause.... I may just opt not to to be safe, figured I'd pass what I learned on... any additional thoughts are welcome.
Thx.

I’ve heard the solution to pollution is dilution.
It seems like water would reduce the acid concentration quickly. Baking soda and water would also neutralize the salicylic acid. For the amount of product needed to clean about anything, it seems like a few gallons of water would reduce the risk significantly.
Great stuff. Use it when the going gets tough.

My black tank is ABS plastic. One thing that I have found to help stainless steel and even porcelain sinks stay looking good is to wipe them dry after use and not let the water evaporate off them.

We use BKF routinely with no noted negative effects.

Glare
Because my truck and trailer use exclusive Glare, I tried Glare Knockout polish and once any water spots were gone I then sealed the sink with Glare Pro Polish.
Water now sheets off and we don’t worry about hard water spots, Repeat as necessary.
Works great on counter tops and the glass top for your stove. Won't burn off till 600 degrees

You're fine. Airstream dealers use it all the time.
