Took another look at unit. Have not yet added it (waiting for next dump/flush), but it looks like the rubber valve seal might solve the rotation issue.
Had added one of these to a past trailer where the black tank gate just would NOT seal properly. Left it on permanently, worked just fine. This is the same problem as I had then, but it is solvable:
Take the valve screws out, and without separating the shell, rotate the female side (the side that will connect to your AS) by 90°. Put the screws back in and tighten to the original torque.
Remember that the valve handle will start out in one spot, but when rotated into the fully mated position, will end up in another. Keeping that in mind, fully mate the valve to your connector to see where it'll actually end up, before making any changes.
I used one for a while. Did not like it much. Mine did not rotate but I worried about that and about something hitting it. The valve does provide a temporary solution for a troublesome problem. One might look at adding a thin screw through the flange on the trailer to prevent rotation since all will be replaced anyway. One could also just seal it on with silicone seal or flex seal.
I’ve used these on a past trailer and have one on my AS. It gives me one extra layer of protection and control between me and the sewage in the black tank. Installed easily without any modifications. Handle is oriented to the side and doesn’t interfere with anything. I’ve been very satisfied with it.
