68 Overlander waste Valve

Hi All -

Sorry if this is a redundant question. But does anybody have guidance on how to replace a waste valve on a 68 overlander? Do you have to cut the belly pan to do so. The connection is in the bumper( picture attached) Any help would be appreciated!!

The valve, if original, is attached to the side of the black tank with 4 screws. The black tank sits in and is supported by a galvanized box. My 68 had the rear rusted out and the galvanized tank that holds the black tank was gone. You will have to drop the belly pan, and then drop the galvanized box ( to do that you must remove the toilet and unscrew the flange that connects the closet flange to the fitting on top of the black tank) that holds the black tank to be able to gain access the screws to replace it. I replaced mine with an original Thedford from Inland RV so all the other stock components would work. The grey water line connects with a Y-fitting between the valve and the connection point. There is grey tank.

Thank you!! It looks like I'm in for some fun then. Do you know if you have to also cut around where the connection comes out as well (picture) it almost seems if I do that I might be able to just rebuild it?

Sometimes hard to decipher a photograph. The photo is not what I would expect to see on a 68 Overlander. Maybe your trailer has been renovated along the line in the past.

Here is a photo of the waste tank blade valve on my 66 Trade Wind 24', which is one size less than your Overlander. The valve was a Thedford. There is no hose attached to it. It is centered in the bumper compartment below the subfloor. The valve can be serviced from this location. I removed the tank and valve and replaced both with new ones.

If you search 68 Overlander on these forums in the Knowledge Base, maybe you will see a good photo of the valve in a 68 Overlander from the factory.

Thanks for the info. Mine is very similar as I can access the handle through the compartment above the bumper. The difference is mine does not have space between as your does to access the bolts. There is very little clearance in there.
