66 Tradewind

Does anyone know how big of a job it is to replace the black-water holding tank on a 66 Tradewind. I had all new plumbing put in by an RV dealer last winter. I was pretty sure at the time that the black holding tank had a small leak, as you could sometimes see a little blue water at the front of the holding pan near the drain outlet. I decided at that time to hold off and see if it sprung any major leaks. Recently I have noticed a small drip of blue water when tank has water in it. Someone had said you could try pouring a fiberglass sealant of some type into the tank and that might fix the leak. I know I could get a new tank from Inland RV, would hire an RV place to do the work, just wondered how big of a job this is. Thanks, Kelly

For someone that knows how, it would take about 5 hours, to change out the tank.

If the 66 is like the 68 it is not a terrible job IF, the galvanized box and supports are all intact. The toilet must be removed, flange unscrewed, and vent stack cut, and the grey water drain line removed. The belly pan under the tank must be removed and it can be lowered. I would certainly install a new dump valve while I had apart. I chose to go with the OEM style tank from Inland and the Thedford valve and adaptor. By doing that I could use all the old drain lines. I have no idea how many hours it would take if you hire someone. I had to built the galvanized box and do some welding to the supports tabs.
