Rebuild kits are okay, but if the valves are original I'd suggest swapping out the valves AND the adapters (you need to buy the adapters separately.) The plastic in these gets brittle with age and it makes no sense to go through all the work only to have something crack a month from now. There's another thread about a similar repair, and he found his adapters crumbling when he pulled them out.

Where I differed from the norm is I used PVC pipe instead of ABS because I could get it locally and the delivery times on the ABS were very long at that time. As far as I can tell it works just fine. I did put a Valterra connection on for the dump hose but used the Tetford valves. Once the hole is cut for access it is not really too bad a job to replace the plumbing.

There are a few versions/varieties for these valves. The biggest variation is whether or not the adapters glue on or are a press fit. Verify which you have and order the same. The other variation on these valves is whether or not they are designed to work with extension handles or not. You'll need the ones for use with extensions.
Out Of Doors Mart has these all on their website last I looked. They ship fast and their prices were better than I found elsewhere.
About the rebuilt kit...order one to keep in your spares box. If one of the new valves fails you can use it to fix the leaking seal.
