winter water side preparations

I am lazy and want to be safe

i use the air blow out method and just anti-freeze in the traps.

I also bring in
  • my dual high flow main water filters
  • sink only triple drinking water filter
  • fresh water pump

I take the water filters apart and use CLR to get rid of any of the gunk, chlorine, lime, rust, calcium etx build up. It dries out all winter in the basement.
i throw away the filters each season, as they are relatively cheap to replace.

i run the pump through with CLR after removing and cleaning the 50 mesh inlet filter. I then run it through with distilled water and let it dry out

in the AS, i leave the low point drains open

I take out the plugs on the hot water heater and let it dry out. I always find there is a bit of water in the HW tank that i cant remove

all taps are left open inside

no problem in three years with this method
