Where to Start?

Planning on putting in new pex lines and connections this weekend, but wanted that little nudge to get me going in the right direction.

First off, I have a 69 overlander with the bath in the rear.

Where to I start? Is it easiest to start at the fresh water tank and work my way back or start from the fictures and work my way from there?

Any direction or insight to help me get over the fears of doing this and to get me started would be gratefully welcome.

I would do the main runs first then T into them for the fixtures. You might want to draw out the sysem first this should help. Have you thought about adding an outside shower or fixture and maybe a few additional isolation valves. The original systems were done with cost cutting in mind if you are doing your own you can add some nice options, outside shower, outside hotwater, hose bibb in the front and so on.

Howdy!

I do not know if this will be helpful, but when my husband did our frame off on our 1963 Bambi he replaced all the water pipes with pex... drew a plan first, and then just started with the hot water heater (if I remember correctly...) and went to the next water need. He worked the plan from the original pipes (which were all cracked, broken due to freezing by PO). I do remember making several trips to the hardware store to buy pex parts... began with the fancy crimper tools and such.

Good luck! Oh, and after he re-did the pex he pressure tested it first with air before enclosing anything...

I would be very indebted to you if you would photo-essay the process. I have a 69 Overlander International Double Bed layout & I count 4 different styles of plumbing in it. That means I, too, will be doing the Pex love fest thang before too many moons. I know less about plumbing than I do about the Armstrong AC unit I'm wrassling with this month. but you gotta love these Airstreams. They feed you the next challenge just a hair ahead of where you got comfy on the learning curve.
