What should I do with air in water pump lines and a leaky tank?

I just swapped out the old pump in my 77 Sovereign with a newer centrifugal pump, it immediately started making noise, it looks like somehow air was getting into the system. I filled up the tank a bit more, and noticed that water starts leaking into the cavity ( I had cut a small hole to access the water tank inlet ). I can't tell if it's the hose connection to the pump that is leaking or if the tank is cracked, but I'm wondering what my options are. I'm boon-docking on my property, and I have access to an external water tank, the only problem is there is not much pressure. Is there a way to use the internal pump, from the external source? Just trying to figure out what my options are.
