what pipes to use?

Hello,

I'm re-plumbing a 62 Bambi. There were pieces of copper pipes in there, but I've heard it's easier to use plastic.

I saw some pictures, they look like transparent ~1/2, flexible-ish pipes. What are those called and where can I get them?

Thanks,
Kamo

Pex

Hi kamo, do a search for Pex - you'll end up with a ton of information.

Hi kamo--The transparent flexible-ish pipes you saw were 5/8" ID plastic that you can buy in any big box, or hardware. Just cut out the bad copper in your A/S, slide the plastic over the copper, and secure with a stainless steel screw clamp. I have used this method for all rework, and it has been leakfree for 18 years. Unlike the high water pressure in your home, the pressure in your A/S is about 45 psi, so the plastic with clamps works just fine. Worked for me.--Frank S

Thanks for the replies!

It looks like Ace hardware sells the 5/8" PEX pipes.

Thanks,
Kamo
