Water Softener

A couple of months ago in the Blue Beret, Phred Sez talked about using water softener in the holding tanks. How much did he say to use, I believe it was a cup dissolved in a gallon of hot water and poured into the tanks(can't find that issue of the Beret). Has anyone tried this?

Calgon

One cup to a gallon of warm water. Poured into the black tank and also grey water.

It works great, I have been using it and my tanks come clean. No problem and I think it is dump station friendly.

I usually then add a gal of water to the black tank and about the same to the grey tank and then head out. I do this about every 3 dumps.

Don't know the long term affect, like a year or so but will find out.

water softner

Ooops Ron,

I just realized I goofed.

You are suppose to use 2 cups of Calgon to every gallon of warm water.

I went back and read my print out.

I also read this idea in another source so I feel it probably is a good idea until someone comes along and informs me it ain't such a good one.

Thank You

Thanks TNSue, will give it a try and see how it works. Calgon certainly is not cheap but hope it works better than chemicals.
