Water Purifier - One of the Best Upgrades

Last summer I installed an Acuva water purification system in our kitchen. We have used it for a while now and have really come to like it. It really puts our minds at ease knowing that our drinking and cooking water is purified.

I don't know about you, but I am not the most diligent person for ensuring that our fresh water tank is sanitized. Even if I do sanitize it once a year, how long is that really good for? Having the water purifier puts our minds at ease.

I got the bigger one, and am glad I did (Arrow 5). It really makes filling water bottles a breeze. I believe this is what is part of the new REI Basecamp too.

Here is my under sink installation. Not the best pictures, but you get the idea. I did have to get a couple of 90 degree fittings for the filter so the pipe did not get kinked.

The last picture is with the water running to show the blue light around the faucet. When the blue light is on, you know the water is being purified. No blue light, probably some electrical issue.

By the way, I wired it to 12 volts so we could use it when not plugged in to shore power. I got power from one of the light switches next to the door.

Can this be plumbed directly into the cold water side of the faucet instead of having a separate faucet? Not sure I want to drill a hole into the countertop on our new Classic.

Sorry for the delay in response. I suppose you could do that. Then all the cold water run in the sink would be purified. I suspect the flow rate would be noticably lower. You could install a switch to turn the purifier off when you wanted to run un-purified water. Also, you wouldn't have the cool blue light on the separate faucet telling you that the water is being purified. For the hole in the counter, I used the one for the hand sprayer as we rarely, if ever, used it.
