A few months ago our fresh water tank started to fill up while we were hooked up to city water. Water started to drip out of the overfill portal. We have never filled the fresh water tank as we have always camped at RV parks that provided water. The dealer determined it was a faulty check valve in the water pump between the inlet and outlet sides. The water pump was replaced and on our next trip, a few weeks after the new pump was installed, the problem repeated itself. The trailer is back at the dealer. The trailer is a 2018 30ft. Serenity. Did the dealer install another faulty water pump or is there another problem?

Check valve sticking
You could have a defective replacement pump. Maybe or maybe not. Even if you always stay at full hookup sites you should flush and sanitize your freshwater tank on a regular basis. There may be a bunch of crud in there that needs to be cleaned out. Once you find out what is really causing the problem and things are in order, fill the freshwater tank once in a while and use the onboard water pump for your water needs. Keeps things flushed and the check valve will not stick due to crud.
We always travel with at least 1/4 tank of water so we can use our own bathroom and wash hands after lunches at nice rest areas. Always good to have some water with you just in case.
You may very well have a bad check valve in the pump - Also check your inlet water pressure, if too high might be doing damage to the check valve.
Personally I would not depend on those check valves and install a ball valve between the water pump and the city side. So when you are on city the valve is closed, when you want to use the fresh water tank, open the valve.
