Water pressure in trailer

I have a 2000 31' Excella and have a minor problem. The water pressure in my trailer is higher when I use the pump than when I use a connection to city water. How do I fix?

Your city water pressure regulator may need some attention.

Probably did pick up some dirt in Az. I have taken the trailer to Az several times and driven on dirt roads. Will check pressure regulator.

That year trailer came with a 50 psi water regulator and the newer ones have a 65psi regulator. A upgrade should help.

I have a 2008 International and from the git go the water pressure has always been higher on the internal pump then when on shore water.

I figure that is normal.

what exactly do you wanna fix?

and how have you determined the 'pressure is higher' on the pump?

FLOW/VOLUME of water moved is often higher using the pump but that isn't exactly the same as pressure...

it is true the internally mounted NON adjustable inline pressure regulator is set to 50 psi on your unit

and the new trailers come set at 65 psi...

but changing this regulator isn't necessarily a good idea...

it WILL expose your pipes and all the joints to a higher base pressure which increases the risk of leaks....

and the higher rated regulator still won't eliminate the water flow/volume difference noticed when using the pump...

the pumps can also be adjusted DOWNward to produce LESS flow, but like srw notes...

most of us will still notice faster flows using the pump...

with OR without a connection to shore water...

cheers

The two water systems have separate pressure controls. City water has an high-pressure limit governed by a regulator and an emergency pop-off valve for over pressure. The pump has its own pressure switch that comes on when pressure drops below the set limit and turns off at the design high pressure limit.

In the case of low pressure city water, there is nothing you can do-your setup can limit, but not boost, pressure.

You can measure the pump high pressure cutoff with a gage and then adjust the city regulator to match. You can also fuss with the pump switch to match the city water regulator, but that requires more technical expertise
