Can you put a plug on the inlet until you can figure it out? My trailer came with a plug. If you can't find a male plug, use a male double ended brass water hose connector with a cap on one end.

This, you should put a plug in the city water connection when not on city water even if it is not leaking, to keep the connection clean.
