Water from weep hole

I drained my tank last month when we returned from a trip; no evidence of any problem then. A couple of days ago I refilled the fresh water tank and now I have water, about 1 drop every 5 seconds, coming out of the tank pan weep hole.
I have read a variety of horror stories, all of them requiring dropping the pan. Since this is below floor level and not likely to impair my camping ability in the near future, I plan to leave my trailer with the nearest dealer in October, when we have a rally nearby. It is a 4 hour drive to that dealer.
If anyone has any advice, I would welcome it.

My leak was the fill hose where it attaches to the tank. Maybe it will quit dripping after a day or 2. On the older trailers there is a drain plug in the bottom of the tank (inaccessible, of course) that can leak.

Thanks Bill. It will get plenty of time to see if it stops. I only filled it because I am going to drive to some scales for adjustment.

Try looking down through the hole in the floor that the fill and other water lines go to the tank to see if you can spot a potential leak source.

It just is not possible to "access" that hole in the floor. All of that stuff is outboard under the port-side wardrobe. While there is a door at the bottom to get to the water pump, you cannot get in far enough with your arm or head to use a mirror or see anything. I think dropping the tank pan is required.

On my 1988 25' I managed to change the fill line to the top of the tank without dropping the tank.

Just an idea, but I'd be getting one of these. A tiny camera on a rigid wire and LEDs. $15

Currently waiting for a replacement tank for our 2014 30'. Same symptom, on mine there was an inspection plate in the bottom of the pan. It turned out to be a crack in the bung where the drain attached. It was about a 45 minute job to drop the tank. Currently at over a month waiting for replacement [emoji107]

Ugh! I cannot see how I can access from the top so the pan will have to be dropped and I will need to take it to a dealer for that.

Mollysdad, thanks. What a bargain and a great idea. And if taped to a #12 wire or whatever, could access all those impossible to reach places.

I had a drip, drip from the fresh water tank cover pan. The first time was a leak from the fresh water drain plastic fitting. I managed to change that out and stopped the leak, photo below.

The second time it was from the plumbing lines laying on top of the tank but below the floor. Specifically it was from the tee and valve to the low point drains. It had abraded from vibration along the side of the frame rail.

The tank drip did not do so with the trailer sitting with a full fresh water tank. The tank drip did not do so with the trailer connected to city water.
The tank drip did leak when the water pump was on. The tee was on that circuit.

Dropping the tank is a job lying on your back. I did so, and changed out all the gray polybutylene plumbing above the tank. No more leak.

A good dealer service department can handle this job. It will be rather spendy because of the $100 per hour shop rates.

Thanks. I know it will be pricey but I also know spending time under the trailer is beyond my capability so I will have to pay. I just spent part of a week replacing the element and relay on the back of my water heater and I should have paid for that, instead of DIY.
I drove about 200 miles today and the drip has stopped. Probably fits the earlier post about the fill line. I am going to try the camera bit but even if I see anything I think it will need to be reached from below. Not dripping, I feel better about waiting until October.Larry

Hi

Fill line hoses are not forever. They do crack for a variety of reasons. It could be at the tank or it could be higher up.

When the pump is pressurized does it burp after leaving it pressurized for a while? I had water weeping from the same holes but found a small leak in the plumbing above the tank. Only the water pump burping every hour gave me a clue I had a plumbing leak. Water was dripping on the tank then running down the to the weep holes in the liner. Once repaired no more water dripping from the weep holes.

Nope, not a pressurized system problem. It happened when I filled the fresh water tank with a hose.

Not sure I understand correctly, but if it is a fill line, is it really a problem worth worrying about - especially if you have to pay an RV shop?!

It would soon stop dripping of its own accord wouldn't it?

We had a drip from the cover pan last March when in Charleston (haven't used the trailer since then.

At that time we had a problem with the water pump.

Water was backflowing from city water through the pump into the fresh water tank and causing it to overflow out the fill pipe. (I have since changed the pump and will try to repair the old one as a spare.)

I'm guessing that the overflowing water from the fill pipe somehow found its way down into the sheet metal covering pan - hope I am right!

My Safari drips when the tank is overfilled, up into the fill tube. It stops once it drips out whatever is in the fill tube, maybe a few quarts. I do not see that as a problem so I have not attempted a repair.

When I sanitize, I fill with the chlorine bleach mix until it overflows the fill spout and vent, to make sure the entire water system is treated. I think this bleach mix contributes to deterioration of this pipe.

If the camera will allow me to confirm that the problem is just the fill line then I will probably forget about paying for a repair. I should have the camera next week.
