water cap

First post ever, usually can solve from reading other posts. Water is flowing from the fill cap at the front of the 1968 Safari, whenever we try to fill the freshwater tank. The cap is located on a neck about half-way down. The pump sounds like it is running, and we do get water to the back of the camper. Help!

If water is coming out the fill cap while you're filling the tank, have you considered the possibility that the tank is full?

How are you filling the tank? Removing the cap and running a hose in there? Or do you have a system that lets you divert water from the city water system to the tank?

Are you connect to the city water?

Yes, We do have a system that lets us divert water from the city water system. But, there must be a shut-off valve somewhere? Water just keeps coming out of the cap on ext front, once full.

Probably is all orginal as it was bought in 68, and stored since 77. Little time capsule. Cool

In my Trade Wind, water tank is under the front window with the fill cap on the front of the trailer on the street side. The tank is located inside above the floor and covered with thin plywood. On either side of the tank are two small compartments fitted into the curve of the front corners. The water pump and a tangle of plumbing and valves reside (resided, no pump for some time) in the streetside compartment.

If I remember correctly, and it has been some time since I've used the Trade Wind, one of these valves allows filling the tank. The others are drain valves. Check the valves there. Hopefully you will find the open fill valve there.

Thank you, ours is in the same location. We have replaced the hoses and will check for valves, when it is not 102.
