Storing Water Filter in between trips

Hi all - wondering what folks would recommend as to storing a potable water filter in between trips. Sometimes there is a month or more between trips. I am worried water sitting in the filter system (Clearsource 3 stage in my case) will start to grow mold inside the filter system. Do most people take them apart and let them dry out in between trips?

I’ve never experienced any problems by keeping it on the hose and screwing the inlet to the outlet, full of water. Mold and algae do better when they are exposed to air, and the filter media would be a fine substrate. You can always flush it to purge every several weeks.

The filter under the sink I leave in place, except when the trailer is winterized. Then I dry it and store it in a Ziploc bag.
The portable external filter, during camping season I leave it wet with the hose ends capped. I flush it for several minuets before reconnecting it to the trailer. If I store during freezing weather I dry it and cap the ends. I replace the filter as needed, usually every spring. My portable filter is a single stage cartridge whole house that I modified, that looks similar to your Clearsource.

I use a whole house filter equipped with a carbon/sediment filter. When we return from a campout, I flush out the exterior hoses & filter with city water (chlorinated) and then drain hoses and filter housing. The filter element I shake off the excess water and then store it in a Ziploc bag in the house fridge until our next trip. Filter is replaced every camping season or sooner if the sediment deposits are too heavy. It is amazing what the filter pulls out at some campgrounds!

From the Clearsource website FAQ: if leaving in a week or two do nothing. If storing longer (a month or more) pull the filters out, dry the canisters and let the filter elements dry. Drying out does not damage them.
