Sediment in Water blocking Atwood Water heater

We have a 2018 25fb Flying cloud, which we also use at home for guests and every time we open it up after winterizing the hot water flows slowly because of sediments from our city water. This year our mobile RV Mechanic had to take the regulator off in order to get any coming out.
We want to install a water filter system to stop this from happening and can anyone recommend the best one.
I understand water softeners can destroy the water heater so were looking at the osmosis system but not sure where to install it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
