Replumb 1976 land yacht

Long time/first time. Well today is the day. I got online and ordered from Pex Supply in New York. Everything arrived Thursday but I had to wait until today. My families business was plumbing. I can tell you that they are not happy about me replacing the copper pipe with plastic. I liked the crossed linked polyethylene. It was easy to use, so far. The hard part was removing the old copper lines. I took a bunch or photos but I'm having trouble attaching them to this thread. I stared with replacing the water heather. The previous owner had a freeze. The opening was too large so I had to fill in the sides with some aluminum, I purchased at local hardware store. I used a calk tape for the heater opening

Larry, Your pictures did not post. Check out this thread for help: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f138...eds-31829.html

PEX is the way to go and it is also being used in most new homes today.

Why is PEX better than copper pipes?

It is easier to work with, no heat required (no fires) just snap together.
It is flexible, no bending (kinking).
It expands, no split pipes when a freeze occurs (within reason).
It costs less, copper has gone crazy.

Pex

I like it because it comes in colors. I use red for hot and blue for cold. The fittings are expensive as well as the crimping tool. When a freeze occurs the plastic expands but will not burst. When it war4ms up you cant't even tell where the bulge was. It is cool looking and weighs less.

Pretty colors.
More resistant to freezeing weather.
Snap fittings. are cool. I do not like the crimping. I have seen it done wrong too many times.
