replacing copper water lines

Is it worth the effort to replace the existing copper water lines in my 68 ambassador with plastic?
The trailer water lines don't leak and work fine. It would be easy to get to them as they run through the inside of the trailer.

just not sure if the new plastic lines are better or not...

I know they flex if they start to freeze, but i would think they would retain chemical taste more than copper?

I wouldn't replace them just for the heck of it. If you are conscientious about draining the lines before they freeze, then it's not worth the effort.

But they only have to freeze once to make it worthwhile.

There isn't any chemical taste if you use Pex.

If it aint broke, don't fix it! Be sure to drain the copper completely to prevent freeze damage and they will last a long time yet. Removing the copper and replacing with PEX is (1)NOT EASY, (2) sort of expensive. Not something you want to do just for fun. Go camping instead. Darol

We just finished replacing our copper lines (po let them freeze in SEVERAL places). While not the worst job, I would not do it again unless I have to. We had trouble finding fittings for the faucets. PEC's is really expensive when you calculate the number of fittings you will need. Best of luck!!

Pretty much the same here: We're replacing the copper with pex piecemeal as we get failures or repairs to do on the old. The hardest part is to locate splice material to connect the pex to the copper.
