Potable water tank nasty

Hello I an a classic car guy who is intending to restore a 1978 Airstream International. The tank has black slime in in from lack of use and I can not find a drain for it. Is there an easy way to clean or remove it. It is just inside the driver side wheelwell. This unit has a center bath. Thanks!!!!

Have never seen one without a drain on the fresh water tank somewhere. There are recognized ways to sanitize such a tank - search on the Forums for "sanitize" and you will find them. They involve adding ordinary household bleach to the partially-filled tank, then filling it all the way with fresh water, running this solution out of all taps, shower head, etc. for a bit using the coach's pump, then letting it sit for a pre-determined amount of time, then draining (you can always use the water pump to pump out the tank) and refilling. Most do this every year and sometimes more often.

Thanks. I suppose the oxidizing action of the bleach will dissolve the slime???? I was hoping to flush it somehow... I will go drain hunting. Thanks again Jeepguy

It may be a good Idea to tow the trailer around while it is half full with the bleach solution. That way the sloshing of the water should help dislodge the ectoplasm that is inside your tank.

There is a drain for it. Look under the floor near the galley. You'll find a water pump there. Follow the lines back to the tank inlet. The drain is there. You can't see it from under the trailer.

Thanks to all. Drain is actually a plug directly below fill inlet behind an access cover that has the winter drain down tube passing through it. I was looking for a valve assembly of some type. Got it now... Thanks!!!
