I'm going to order my fresh water tank this week and wondered the best way to vent it?
It will be going in a 67 Caravel. Above the floor under front gaucho. Same place it was originally.
The plumbing is being started from scratch. All the copper was split wide open.
Any other tips on how this should be set up would be much appreciated.
I have the new pump already & will be using PEX.
Is VTS the best place to get the tank? It is basically a long rectangle.
Thanks!
On my (2001 and 2002) trailers, the fresh water tank vent is a part of the fill port. The vent hose runs alongside the fill hose.

my 65 caravel has a u-shaped copper tube that comes off the top of the tank and runs thru the floor and body pan on to the ground. newer tanks have a tube that comes off the top of the tank with a screened outlet just to side of the filler spout. It's usually a 1/4" tube, pex or icemaker tubing should work.

PEX is best. don't forget to put a drain valve on the bottom to drain tank for winter or bad water dump. Run all water lines inside heated spaces to avoid frozen lines.
put in a inline filter for smell and taste. and to save water if dry camping a hand pump at kitchen sink
Mine just vents around the screw on cover at the filler tube. The cover has two channels for the air and when the tank is full the water can easily pass back out the filler tube. There is no other tube from the fresh water tank
Thanks for all the insight on the tank setup. As soon as we get a few days in a row of decent weather it will be installed.
I really enjoyed the paper towel sketch.
This may be overkill, but this is what we did on our 1966 Safari. The multiple valves allow for different configurations. The fresh water tank is vented via the cap as pictured in the bottom left photo.
Good luck!
