No water from city line

My mom just arrived at her AS in Florida to discover she has a water problem. There is no water coming into the trailer through the city hookup. She filled the freshwater tank and can use the pump to get water in the trailer, but no water from a direct hookup. Any idea what might be wrong?

I should add this is a 1990 Excella, 29', and has been unoccupied since April.

Was the trailer winterized? If so there might be a valve that needs to be turned.

No, it wouldn't have been because it was summer.

I did, sorry. The trailer is in Florida year round, and when she left in April it was just drained and shut down but not winterized.

Does she leave the water hose hooked up year round or re-attach it when she gets there?

If she hooks up each time, it would be easy for her to hook up the hose to the tank flush instead of the water inlet. She might have not heard the water running into the black tank.

If she takes the hose off, mud daubers could have filled the inlet if it was not capped.

I also have a trailer in FL year round.

Is there a shutoff valve for the city water? My trailer has an external shutoff on the spigot. This is required to keep tank water from running out the spigot when the city water is disconnected and the pump is on. If she had it closed when the water was disconnected, it needs to be opened when reconnected.

Thank you for both of those suggestions. There are a couple of other Airstreamers there helping her - this is in the AS park in Melbourne - and they can't figure it out. There are no valves to turn on or off, and they are using the correct inlet. Someone thinks there may be a check valve that could be faulty - do you know if there is such a valve? Or have you ever heard of the inlet line getting clogged?

Mud daubers seem like a highly likely suspect!

I had the same symptoms a couple of years ago - in our case it turned out to be the brass check valve a couple of feet downstream of the city water inlet - it had stuck in the closed position - took it apart - cleaned it up - put it back together and it was good to go .... having said that ..... they didn't make it easy to get to .....

The water there has a lot of calcium in it, occasionally some solids form on brass parts. The calcium can get into the pressure regulator and stop it up. If you're digging into the trailer anyway, you might as well check it.

If she is not using an inline filter between the hose bib and trailer, now would be a good time to start using one.

There is someone at the park that makes repairs - she will have to ask them to take a look at it on Monday. Thank you so much for your input.

check valve/regulator

I have a similar problem, does anyone know where these are located in a 1973 Tradewind? Thanks!

In my 73 30' rear bath/center twin, I vaguely remember (it's been more than 25 years ago) the regulator being inside the rear compartment near the floor. There was a big brass plug in the base of the regulator that covered a copper/brass removable screen. That screen would corrode, turn green, and get full of sediment. I'm not sure if it was original or had been added by a previous owner. In those days I was using the trailer at the beach where well water was the norm, also with no inline filter.

No water from city line

My mom went out for a while yesterday morning and when she came back two of her AS neighbors had fixed the problem. It was the valve. A couple of years ago the inlet was replaced because it was leaking. They took the valve from the old one and switched it out for the "new" one. Problem solved. Once again proving that the best thing about Airstreams are the people that own them. Thanks, everyone.

The spring loaded check valve at the city water inlet is the first thing that comes to mind. I would think that even if stuck, the pressure of the city water in the hose should
open it - but maybe not!

I know this sounds like a stupid question. Is there water coming out of the trailer park city water?
