Neoprene tubing

I had a couple burst copper lines (from the previous owner) anyway I "repaired" the sections with clear braided neoprene tubing & stainless clamps. The tubing comes in various sizes & fits right over the copper lines.

Has anyone tried this before, it seems to me it would work about as well as PEX & i can keep the original copper valves. According to the web site its FDA approved.

I have used it in the past and am using some in the trailer we usually travel with. The only problem I have encountered is the hose clamps seem to migrate into the tubing over time and need to be tightened every couple years. It is viable for repairs or a short line, probably a bit pricey to do a whole trailer.

I keep some in the junk drawer with some hose clamps for emergency repairs. All hose clamps should be checked periodically. Sal.

I believe that tubing goes by the name of Tygon. It will work but like others have said you need to check the clamps often because they will leak. Also Tygon tends to leach chemicals into the water. You know, that plastic water hose taste. Not sure how good that is for you.

Thanks! I got the idea for using it from the way Airstream had connected the factory water pump.....they used Goodyear Heater Hose. LOL
