Update: thanks for all the helpful feedback, I’m 6 days into the maiden voyage with my fiancé and our 2 month old baby daughter so in between driving time, this has been my focus to get this rig ship shape for the quarantine isolation period. As long as I can keep them comfortable, she’ll let us stay out on the road.

My fingers are crossed the problem may be solved. Here’s what I did this eve, for helping other folks that may encounter this issue:

-drained gray tank.
-filled fresh water til overflow and sensor showed full.
-drove trailer slowly to “burp” the freshwater tank.
-after 5 minute “burping” drive around campsite, freshwater tank monitor showed empty.
-checked gray water tank. Completely bone dry.
-tried to top off freshwater tank, spit water from freshwater inlet within seconds.
-measured rate of flow from kitchen sink using gallon water jug, rate of flow is 1 gallon per minute.
-set stop watch and let kitchen sink free flow, draining to gray water tank.
-at 31mins, shower drain gurgled and began seeping/overflowing. Gray tank capacity = approx 31 gallons.
-drained gray tank.
-continued free flowing kitchen sink for another 23 mins, giving us a measurement of 54 gallons that was in freshwater tank, despite monitor showing empty.

Conclusion: my freshwater monitor cannot be trusted. Gray water monitor cannot be trusted.

If I conservatively estimate 2 gallons per minute rate of flow (average between shower and sink outputs) I should have 25 minutes of free flow water on a full tank of fresh.

I think I’ll go take a nice hot shower now thanks again for all your support, I’m sure it won’t be the last issue I have this this trailer but I know where I’ll come when I need another set of eyes.

Monitor shows I lost 50 gallons of freshwater in 24hrs.What is this on off valve for?

The tank monitors are a lot like the “cake will be served immediately” comment in the video game.

“The cake is a lie” is the reality.

When the gray water comes up in the shower, the gray tank is full.

When you can easily see the surface of the stuff three inches down in the black tank, it’s full.

When the fresh water tank runs out with your wife in the middle of her shower, it’s empty.

When the hot water runs out in the middle of your wife’s shower, you’re out of propane.

(Don’t laugh. Don’t ask how I know this! Don’t ask why I check and re-check all the tank levels on a trip. The Dragon Lady is capable of generating a lot of fire!)

There is a calibration procedure. Somewhere I saw a field version write up in IIRC the blue beret. Someone will correct me or better yet provide link or text for it. It seemed more to the point hands on real world.

If only someone had suggested that earlier in the thread. You can try to recalibrate your monitors. I did several times with no success, and I've never read about anyone else having anything but short term success. That's why there are numerous threads by people who installed SeaLevel monitor systems. Personally, I don't think it's worth the hassle. I know when I fill the tank and can predict pretty darn well when I'm going to run out of water. At least close enough to know whether I can squeeze a shower in or not.

Micropulse Monitor Manual

We've got a 2008 Classic. Assuming you've got the Micropulse Monitor...

Here's a copy of the Micropulse Monitor Manual, it contains the recalibration sequence.

Siminoff article- Calibration Procedures for the MicroPulse System

Here is a link for the Roger H. Siminoff article referenced above, "Calibration Procedures for the MicroPulse Systems Monitor in Airstream Trailers". I found it today, 4/23/2022. Roger wrote it in 2010.

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/00...ructions.pdf?4

It is much easier to understand than the MicroPulse manual. It'd less stilted writing, less wordy and better written for the technician who must perform the task. It's also very informative. Thanks Roger Siminoff, in case I never meet you to thank you in person!
