Moen Puretouch Galley Faucet
Hi All,
Just wondering if any of you have the Moen Faucet with a MicroTech Filter Cartridge? Looking over my "new to me" 2005 19' Bambi LS, it has this faucet in the kitchen. Seems like a great idea - a filter right in the faucet. There is a special button on the head of the faucet for filtered water when needed.
Question: Anyone ever change this type of cartridge that seems to fit into the faucet itself? If so, is there a button that needs to be released before any twisting? I am tentative in doing anything without more information as, well, I don't want to break anything before I even use it! Wanted to know if any of you have it, use it with the filtering, and what you think of it before I order any cartridges online.
Thanks for any info, much appreciated!

Here is a thread where this was discussed before. 2airishuman posted the instructions on replacing the filter. There are some links for purchasing replacment filters online too.

I'm not sure if you have the exact same cartridge set up we have on our '08. But, the cartridge on ours is located under the sink and just unscrews. It's pretty substantial, so I don't think you can break it unless it's been in so long it's badly stuck.
Be sure to remove it if you winterize (not likely where you live, but who knows what you'll do?) so antifreeze doesn't go into it and ruin it. Also, remove if it's going to be freezing because the water will freeze in it. Once the filter is removed, something seals in the system and if we've sent water through, it doesn't leak, bit it may be because the special spigot for the filtered water is turned off.
Ours has a red bulb on the faucet assembly that's supposed to go on when the filter is used up. There's a watch type battery that goes into a slot on the inside wall of the sink cabinet to power the bulb. We've seen the light go on a few times and then go out, so this system may not be foolproof. I think the filters are pretty expensive. Prices for the Moen cartridges are all over the place—$25 and up it appears.
And, welcome to the Forum.

We had this faucet in our 2004 Classic, and it was one of my favorite items. I had a dickens of a time removing the filter, but my wife read the instructions in the owners manual ("when all else fails...read the instructions") and afterwards, I just let her do it!
I used it for filtering all the time, and was able to find replacement filters for it on Ebay, saving a few bucks as I recall.
Also, don't forget to take the filter out and drain everyting when winterizing (if you do such things in AZ!).

thanks for faucet filter info..
Thanks for all the good info. Will definitely use the filtering process within the faucet. FYI, I asked several places that sells Moen, including RV supply places. Not much help. Knew I could get answers at this forum. Thanks, again.

This filtering system is so much easier to replace the cartridge than the old system.
Click here to see the cartridge.
