Large fresh water tank plug-removal

I have developed a good sized leak around the large plug on the freshwater tank. The plug is about 1 1/2 inches in diameter with a good sized hole in the center for inserting a tool to remove. Access to the plug is through a removable plate with 6 screws which are next to impossible to get out-I managed to remove 2 and bend the plate back to get at the plug. It seems that a large allen wrench or a special tool is needed to insert into the center hole
Anyone have a clue how to get the plug out or what tool to use? The unit is a 25 foot 87 Sovereign
Thank you
