Insulate those hot water pipes.
While you’re doing plumbing consider insulating the hot water pipes. A year after we got the Airstream we put foam insulation every where we could reach (30’ worth) and noticed a difference right away. Especially in winter. When the water has been tuned off awhile and we turn it on again we can feel the cold spot under the coach when that water runs out the faucet. Now that we have to repair a leak from the hot water heater we can reach more pipe.
Can you define 'foam everywhere we can reach' a little better?
The factory insulation on my '73 has turned into spiral wound ribbon loosely covering blue-green copper pipe, the insulation part long ago decomposed into a moisture retaining dust. I've got felt pipe insulation I found for free and am looking for more options ...

We used the 4' long split foam that can be bought at Home Depot or Lowe's.
We cut it to lengths as needed. Some places that we couldn't really reach (like behind the kitchen counter) we just shoved it over and along the pipe as best we could.
